Welcome!  St. George's Episcopal Pre-K is a place where young children feel secure and loved.  There is plenty of play, some of it structured, but with ample opportunities for children to choose activities on their own.  Children will listen to stories, play games, sing, and ask questions.

In our classroom, children develop a sense of self-reliance as we help them adapt to a setting outside the home, try new things, and make some decisions on their own.  Pre-kindergarten is a good place to begin learning about companionship - getting along with playmates, joining in group projects and games, taking turns, sharing, and settling disputes.

Classroom activities are structured to enable children to develop new skills and knowledge based on what they already know.  The program capitalizes on a variety of thematic learning centers arranged around the classroom.  The children explore different concepts through center activities while learning to work independently and in small groups.

The curriculum offered to the children in pre-kindergarten covers major concepts and skills in language development and literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, physical development, emotional development, and aesthetic development.

Pre-kindergarten students attend chapel and wear uniforms.  During the year, they add the co-curricular activities of art, music, PE, and library.  They eat in the lunch room and rest in the early afternoon.  Our students make a number of field trips, accompanied by our teachers and volunteer parents.

Please call to arrange a visit if you would like to see us in action!
