Third Grade

Mrs. Linda Eady, Teacher

The program is designed meet the needs of all students on an individual basis.  We like to adopt the philosophy that we all learn in different ways, and we all have strengths.  In third grade, we foster good self-esteem and use a "golden rule" approach to dealing with others.  We have an "open door" policy towards visitors and encourage parent and teacher correspondence.  An agenda is used on a daily basis.  Papers go home every week so that parents can stay aware of their child's progress.  The classroom environment provides the opportunity for each student to do his or her best work and develop love of school and learning!

Curriculum

  • Math skills are taught and practiced in a variety of ways including math texts, manipulatives, activities and Accelerated Math.

  • A novel-based approach to reading that encourages a love for reading through high interest.  Reading skills such as comprehension, vocabulary, main idea, sequencing, and inference are also taught through the novel approach.

  • Mastery of D'Nealian Cursive Writing

  • Language Arts skills taught include spelling, grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and writing.

  • In Social Studies, we study each state, its location, and important items or crops produced there.  The students complete state projects and create a scrapbook on Georgia.
