The Arts at St. George's

At St. George's, the Arts program is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering creativity, self-expression, and cultural appreciation in our students. Through comprehensive music and visual arts curricula, students from PK3 through high school develop their artistic skills, engage with diverse traditions, and build a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Music Program
Our music program nurtures students’ musical abilities from Early Childhood through middle school, combining technical instruction, creative exploration, and cultural appreciation.

  • Early Childhood (PK3-2): Students embark on their musical journey with activities that emphasize creative expression, steady beat, and experimentation with pitch and dynamics. Singing, chanting, and instrument play build foundational skills in a joyful environment.
  • Lower School (Grades 3-5): Students dive deeper into musical theory and performance, exploring rhythm, pitch, and orchestral instrument families. Vocal ensembles and group performances enhance their understanding of music's structure and collaboration.
  • Middle School (Grades 6-8): Students refine their music reading and performance skills, delve into the historical and cultural context of music, and explore theater arts through musical productions. These experiences prepare them for advanced artistic pursuits.

Visual Arts Program
Our visual arts curriculum guides students in cultivating their creativity, critical thinking, and technical expertise from PK through high school.

  • PK-5th Grade: Young artists explore the elements of art—line, shape, color, and texture—through hands-on projects in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Emphasis on self-expression and global art traditions inspires curiosity and imagination.
  • Middle School: Students build upon foundational skills, advancing their techniques in traditional and digital art forms. Lessons in art history connect their creations to broader cultural and historical contexts, fostering personal and artistic growth.
  • High School: Advanced students specialize in areas like AP Art, focusing on portfolio development and personal artistic voice. Opportunities for art criticism, gallery visits, and exhibitions provide real-world engagement and a deeper appreciation of art's role in society.

At every level, St. George's Arts program empowers students to express themselves, think critically, and engage creatively with the world around them.
