LEADS Program
St. George’s High School curriculum includes a weekly student enrichment program called “LEADS” which entails time in and out of the classroom one day a week to explore and develop personal passions, further define academic skills, and participates in community service, leadership and mentoring activities.
The St. George’s LEADS program works with a distinguished group of community leaders—each working to invest his or her time into the futures of our high school students. These partners conduct seminars, business tours, mock interviews and support internships allowing St. George’s students to gain insight into future career paths. The real-world value added through these programs makes the St. George’s high school learning experience uniquely exceptional.
Pillars of Leads
The LEADS program builds on the foundation of the SGES mission statement: To learn, to serve, to live, to lead.
LEARN
Topics focus on academic learning styles, study skills, time management and prioritizing, academic goal setting, formative essay writing, preparing for college and PSAT prep.
SERVE
Initiatives focus on learning about global and local concerns, as well as ways to get involved and make a difference. Guest speakers help educate students on various topics that affect the way we live and work in our communities. On-campus service projects allow students to get involved and see first-hand the positive results of their work. The LEADS Serve program also promotes student involvement, encouraging students to advocate and pilot their own initiatives.
LIVE
Topics center on helping students develop their passions, while giving them the life skills they need to pursue those passions successfully. Personal goal setting and decision making are key topics, and each student is also encouraged to invite speakers of their choice to come and present on subjects that are of interest to them personally. Students learn job interview skills and have the opportunity to set up mock interviews with professionals from the surrounding communities.
LEAD
Initiatives focus on the traits that make great leaders. This part of the program includes autobiographical studies, public speaking, team building and group dynamics, ethics and off-campus excursions. In addition, students are also asked to mentor younger students.
